Festival Information

Overview

Brighton Fringe is a city-wide open-access arts festival taking place each May across Brighton and Hove. As one of the largest fringe festivals in England, it brings together independent artists and producers presenting theatre, comedy, cabaret, music, dance, visual arts and experimental performance.

Events take place in theatres, pubs, studios, outdoor spaces and pop-up venues throughout the city, creating an energetic and exploratory festival atmosphere. The open-access model means anyone can register an event, resulting in a diverse programme ranging from emerging work to established performers.

Brighton Fringe runs alongside Brighton Festival but operates independently, with its own programme, venues and ticketing platform.

Travel Info

Most Brighton Fringe venues are clustered in the city centre within walking distance of Brighton railway station, the seafront and the Lanes, so it’s easy to move between shows on foot or by local bus.

For up-to-date details on trains, coaches, buses and cycling, see the official Brighton Fringe Travel page.

Festival Venues

Brighton Fringe is an open-access festival, so performances pop up in pubs, theatres, pop-up spaces, gardens and outdoor sites spread across the city rather than on a single contained site.

You’ll find programme and venue details for each show on the Fringe What's On page. You can also browse their Venues page which includes a useful map view of registered Fringe venues.
