Overview
European Land Art Festival is a free six-day land art festival held across Dunbar, East Lothian. It began in 2016 as the John Muir Stone Stacking Challenge and has developed into a wider programme of temporary artworks, demonstrations, workshops and community participation.
The European Stone Stacking Championships remain central to the festival, alongside activities that can include sand drawing, mandalas, woodland collaborations, exhibitions and live music. Artists work with stones and other natural materials across beaches, woodland and community spaces, while visitors can watch, learn and create their own work.
The festival is organised by a volunteer-led, not-for-profit Community Interest Company. Most of the programme is free, helping both experienced artists and first-time participants explore land art in the landscape around Dunbar.
