Overview

Knockengorroch Festival is an independent roots music festival set deep in a remote valley in southwest Scotland. Blending live music, nature, and cultural celebration, it offers a unique experience far from the mainstream circuit.

Expect a diverse and welcoming crowd, grassroots atmosphere, and a strong environmental ethos. With camping, riverside stages, family-friendly activities, and immersive world music, Knockengorroch has earned its place as one of Scotland’s most cherished and distinctive outdoor festivals.

Location

Knockengorroch Festival takes place at: Knockengorroch Farm, Carsphairn, Castle Douglas, DG7 3TJ.

Please note that the festival site is situated approximately 4 miles from the A713, accessible via privately maintained roads.

  • Shuttle bus: Runs from the off-site car park to the site entrance regularly throughout the festival.
  • Public transport: Nearest train stations are in Dumfries or Ayr, but further travel by taxi or lift-share is required from there.
  • Car-sharing encouraged: to reduce environmental impact and local traffic. See Liftshare info on their travel page.

Festival Venue

Set in a remote upland valley in the Galloway Hills, Knockengorroch Farm is surrounded by mountains, moorland, and a clear-running river. The landscape provides a natural amphitheatre feel and a strong connection to the land and sky. The ground is mostly grassy, uneven in places, and can become muddy in wet weather — please bring suitable footwear and clothing.

See the Accommodation Section for what to bring, on-site facilities, and how to prepare for the weather and terrain.
